Jamal Edwards asked how to filter project variations by client in a dashboard. Connor Webb offered two approaches (saved search or dropdown widget) and guided Jamal toward the dropdown widget method for team sharing.

Problem: Jamal wanted to set up a dashboard to track project variations by client but was unsure whether to use built-in filters or create separate searches. Handling: Connor suggested saved searches (quickest) or a dropdown widget (best for sharing with the team). He offered to walk through the dropdown approach or provide a video. Jamal got the dashboard set up but asked about setting the default view to show all clients initially. This is routine how-to support that drove product adoption.

I'm trying to set up a dashboard to track project variations by client. I can see the variations in the brain but I'm not sure of the best way to filter them so each client sees only their own variations. Is there a built-in filter or do I need to create separate saved searches for each client?

Hi Jamal, great question. You can do this a couple of ways. The easiest is to use the search filters on the variations page: filter by Client, then save that search. That gives you a reusable view. The other option is to build a dashboard with a Client dropdown widget, so you or others can swap between clients. Which approach sounds more useful for your team? Thanks, Connor

Quick note. If you want to share a dashboard with your team, I'd recommend the dropdown widget approach. That way everyone can use one dashboard instead of managing individual searches. Want me to walk you through building that, or would a quick video help? Thanks, Connor

The dropdown widget approach sounds good. Can you send me the steps or is there a video on the dashboard builder? I want to get my team set up with it before end of week.

Got it set up, thanks Connor. One quick thing: how do I set the default view to show all clients? Right now it's showing a blank dashboard until you pick a client from the dropdown.
