Discovery on 2 Oct 2023. Ian Nuttall said job history is spread across email and the CRM and the team must be quicker with clients. Tom Ashdown quoted £26k for the first year and Ian agreed to a demo.

What happened: Tom Ashdown ran a short discovery with Ian Nuttall, Operations Director. Ian described jobs and quotes living in email, with client records in a CRM.

Customer view: Clients ring for job status and the team has to hunt through everything. Ian also said the firm must be able to show it has kept on top of things.

Commercial: Tom pitched Starter at £26k all in for the first year, with four connectors and fifteen users. Ian asked what it included and then said yes to a demo.

Watch: no other attendee was present, so the evidence does not show who else would sign off.

    Hi Ian, you there?
  2. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Yeah, I'm here. How are you?
  3. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
Good, mate, good. How's the week been treating you?
  4. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Busy as usual. Running a boatyard is never quiet, you know?
  5. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
I can imagine. Right, so I'm glad you agreed to chat. I know you've got a lot on. Today I just want to understand what your operation looks like, what systems you're working with, and where you think there might be some pain points we could help with.
  6. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Okay. So we run a lot on email, honestly. We've got a CRM for client records, but a lot of project work happens in email conversations: jobs come in, we quote them, there's back and forth with the client. It's hard to keep track of everything.
  7. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
Right, so the jobs and the history are spread across email and the CRM.
  8. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Yeah. And sometimes clients ring up and ask where we are on their job, and we have to hunt through everything, emails, notes in the system, to give them a status.
  9. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
That's the kind of thing we see a lot. You've got the data, but it's fragmented. So if I understand, you'd like something that can pull all that together: emails, CRM, the lot, and let your team find information faster.
  10. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Exactly. We need to be quicker with clients. And in our industry, you've got to be able to show that you've kept on top of things.
  11. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
Makes sense. So what we do is build what we call the brain, it's basically an AI layer that sits on top of your systems and lets you search and query everything as if it's all in one place. You connect your CRM, your email, any other data you've got, and suddenly your team can ask questions like: 'Show me all correspondence with this client.' It pulls from everything.
  12. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
    And this runs... where?
  13. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
In your own Snowflake account. That's important for you lot because it means your data stays with you. We don't have access to it. The brain just indexes it and makes it searchable.

How long does it take to get up and running?
  15. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
For a business your size, we usually do it in four weeks. We call it the Starter package. It includes the connectors: so getting your systems plugged in: training for your team, and a month's worth of support while you get comfortable with it.
  16. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
    And what's the cost?
  17. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
You're looking at £25,500 all in for the first year. That's implementation and the annual subscription.
  18. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
Right. And what does that include?
  19. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
You get up to four connectors: that's probably your CRM, email, and two others if you need them. And up to fifteen users on the platform. Six-monthly check-ins with us as well. If you find you need more capacity, more connectors, we can always upgrade you later.
  20. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
    Okay. And next steps?
  21. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
What I'd like to do is set up a demo: we'll run it on your kind of data, your CRM, email, that sort of thing. Take about an hour. Then you'll get a real sense of whether it's going to solve your problem.
  22. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
    Let's do it.
  23. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
Brilliant. I'll sort out a time, probably in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you can send over a bit of detail about what you're using: your systems, rough headcount, that sort of thing, that helps me prep the demo.
  24. Ian Nuttall
    Ian Nuttall
    No problem, will do.
  25. Tom Ashdown
    Tom Ashdown
    Cheers, Ian. Speak soon.
