Daniel Okafor proposes a January check-in. Saskia Mendes agrees but adds an agenda item: some directors still ask her for client views instead of asking the brain, and she says they need it to be quick.

Ask: Daniel wants a forty-minute check-in in early January on how the directors find the brain. Saskia asks for the second week back, on a Tuesday or Thursday morning.

Customer view: Saskia says some directors still ask her to pull things together, which is not what she bought it for. She is open that not everyone uses it daily.

Next: agree a slot and prepare to discuss simpler access to the client view.

Hi Saskia, I hope the run-up to Christmas wasn't too frantic on your side. I know the end of the year is usually a busy stretch for a recruitment business, with placements to close off and invoices going out. Just to close the loop on where we left things: we agreed to find a time for a proper check-in once the holiday period was out of the way. I'd like to do that in the first couple of weeks of January, when people are back at their desks and have a bit more headspace. The agenda would be light. How the client-account directors are finding the brain day to day, anything that has got in the way, and whether there is something you would like us to build or tidy up before the spring. If there are particular clients you would like me to look at with you, tell me and I will have them ready. Would a call of around forty minutes suit? If you let me know which days are good, I'll come back to you with a couple of slots that fit round my diary as well. Best wishes, Daniel

Hi Daniel, Thanks for this. Yes, let's do it in the new year. The first week back will be chaos, so the second week is better for me. Tuesday or Thursday mornings are usually the quietest. One thing for the agenda: can we make it simpler for the directors to get to the client view they want? A couple of them still ask me to pull things together rather than asking the brain themselves, and that's not what I bought it for. The directors need this to be quick or they won't bother. I'd rather be straight about it than pretend everyone is in there every day. Some are, some aren't. Happy to go through it properly on the call.
